The increasing significance of intangible assets in the global economy is forcing business organizations to actively manage their IP as a key driver for gaining and maintaining a competitive edge and generating superior results.
The importance of Intellectual Property was first recognized in the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property (1883) and the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works (1886).

Although India has made a number of changes in its IPR regime to increase efficiency and has also gained a hike in the Global Innovation Index ranking, it still needs to go a long way in improving its IPR regime on a global scale.
