This book focuses on kinship family and marriage. Capitalist patriarchy is said to be responsible for the low status of women in family and kinship. Though the education and employment of women have raised their status, the problems in their family like that of role conflict and singlehood have increased. The age at marriage has increased and the values have undergone many changes. With the change in their status, some of the corresponding roles are also changing in Indian society. Contributors to this book have analysed critically some of these issues in detail.
