Abstract

The circular economy is an imaginative and sustainable economic model that aims to reduce waste, make better use of resources, and protect the environment. Unlike the traditional “take–make–dispose” system, the circular economy focuses on reusing, repairing, recycling, and regenerating products and materials for as long as possible. This approach helps safeguard natural resources, lower pollution, and support long-term economic growth. A circular system encourages industries and communities to design products that last longer, minimize consumption, and turn waste into valuable resources. It also promotes green jobs, cleaner production, and responsible behavior among individuals and businesses. By shifting from a linear to a circular mindset, societies can achieve both economic development and environmental protection together. This paper highlights the principles, benefits, and practical strategies of the circular economy as a pathway toward a more sustainable future.

1. INTRODUCTION: CIRCULAR ECONOMY

A circular economy is a transformative economic model that replaces the conventional linear approach of “take-make-waste” with a regenerative system. This system focuses on minimizing resource input, waste, and emissions by eliminating pollution from the outset. Key strategies include promoting sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing, and recycling, which collectively aim to keep products and materials in circulation at their highest value for as long as possible. (Tel Aviv)

The key impacts of this economic model are significant. It facilitates the decoupling of economic growth from finite resource consumption, substantially reduces greenhouse gas emissions, generates new job opportunities, and fosters the development of resilient supply chains across various sectors, including electronics and fashion. Overall, the circular economy presents a sustainable pathway to a more environmentally-friendly and economically viable future. (Mecalux, 2025)
